Events in West Dover

Here's a short list of the major events coming to the Mount Snow / Deerfield Valley Region. Feel free to call us at 866-587-7669 if you have questions about any of these events or about reserving space at the Inn for one of these special weekends.

February 1 through March 2: The Windham Art Gallery presents the Brattleboro Open Exhibit, which features the work of 65 artists from Windham County and surrounding regions. Artists range in age from 20 to 70 and include painters, photographers, collage and multi-media artists. For information call (802) 257-1881 or visit www.windhamartgallery.com.
February 2: The Bennington Chamber of Commerce has teamed up with the Vermont Special Olympics and the Penguin Plunge to create a full day of activities starting at 11 am. Lake Paran in North Bennington is the site of a penguin plunge. Sponsored teams will jump into the icy waters to raise money for the Special Olympics. The chamber will hold its second annual winter festival with a local restaurant chili contest on site from 11 am to 1 pm. Hot dogs, coffee, and hot chocolate will be on sale while the crowd cheers for the “plungers.” For more information call (802) 447-3311.
February 3: The Main Event, a mini slope-style snowboarding competition series, will be held at Mount Snow on February 3rd (it’s the third stop in the series, which allows participants an opportunity to qualify for the Finals). The male and female winners of the final event at Waterville Valley, NH, will win a Wildcard into the Burton U.S. Open competition. With sponsors like Burton Snowboards, Flow Snowboards, and many more, there will be great prizes and an awesome contest format. This year the series is searching to see what state in New England brings the best riders. Get out and represent your state in The Main Event Series. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. in the Carinthia Base Lodge at Mount Snow. This is a first come first serve basis with a maximum of 120 entries. Make sure to get to the mountain early to secure your spot in Mount Snow's Main Event!
February 7: Abbie Gardner, of the female Americana trio Red Molly, will perform at the Hooker-Dunham Theater in Brattleboro at 8 pm. Tickets cost $16. For information call (802) 254-9276.
February 9: Bud Light Mardi Gras, Mount Snow Style: The mountain’s 5th Annual Celebration of eating and drinking! Beads, beads, and more beads. This year's theme is "Fire and Ice." Skiing Jesters will once again be skiing over the mountain distributing beads, candy, stickers and more for those who can find them and catch them. At noon bring the family to the Main Base Lodge for the Ambassador Parade with beads and candy for the crowd. Ed the Wizard will also be in the parade and then in the base lodge performing fun individual magic tricks. Check out Sean Fitzpatrick the Fitzy Snowman Sculptor as he exhibits his work in the Main Base Area. At 2:00 p.m. head to Cuzzins Deck for a performance like no other as Fire Performer Mike Kevin Farrell will breath fire, swallow swords and do things beyond your belief. Bud Light is throwing two huge parties at Cuzzins in the Main Base Lodge from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., then take a nap and head down to the Snow Barn where Changes in Latitude, a Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band, will be performing with more beads, more hurricane's and more fun. February 16: Grommet Jam Finals under the Lights! Mount Snow’s third of three Grommet Jam events for our 12 and under skiers and riders. The finals of the series of this event will take place under the lights! Coaches and instructors will help out the little jibbers in Jiblet parks in the afternoon and at 4:00 p.m. Mount Snow will have a fun park competition with an awards ceremony to immediately follow. February 23-24: The Southern Vermont USASA Series rolls into Mount Snow for their final competition at the Gut Superpipe on Saturday, and Un Blanco Gulch Terrain Park on Sunday. Please note: According to Mount Snow, this event is not open to the public. Riders must be registered with USASA. The Gut Superpipe will be closed for this competition from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday the 23rd. The lower section of Un Blanco Gulch will be closed from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Sunday the 24th. Times may vary. Visit MountSnow.com for more information.
February 29 – March 2: The Anti-Gravity Grail. Mount Snow's annual huge freestyle event, The Anti-Gravity Grail, now encompasses three days. Starting Friday night you’ll be under the lights and creating sparks on Jiblet for The JBL Rail Jam.  Saturday, you move over to Video Hill and the infamous HEAD Mega Mother Hucker Big Air Competition.  Sunday it's over to the Gut Superpipe and the final event of the weekend, the SoBe Superpipe Competition. Amateur competitors will be competing for prizes from sponsors and pros will be going for a piece of the $10,000 total cash purse. Top 3 place finishers in each competition will receive the coveted glass grail trophy. Registration is now open information and schedules for each individual event are posted below. March 2: Deerfield Valley Rotary Tube-a-Thon! Join a fun afternoon of tubing at the Carinthia Tubing Hill at Mount Snow from 2:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. All proceeds go to the Deerfield Valley Rotary Club. March 16: Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge. The Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge is a fun and exciting series of Ski and Snowboard dual slalom races held at the top resorts throughout the U.S. The events are FREE for all skiers and boarders holding a valid lift ticket. Participants are entertained throughout the day with exciting interactive games, DJ's, music, thousands in raffle prizes and plenty of FREE Mountain Dew! Mount Snow will be your last chance to qualify for the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge Finals! Don't miss out on this fun filled dual slalom race and event! March 22-23: The Mount Snow Freeski Open! The biggest freeski only event to roll into Mount Snow ever! This event will be the only East Coast stop of the Freeski Opens Tour, (other stops include Breckenridge, CO and Big Bear, CA). Huge cash purse featuring a night halfpipe competition in the Gut Superpipe on Saturday the 22nd, and a slopestyle event in the VERMONTSTER on Sunday the 23rd. March 29-30: Reggae, Pond Skimming & Duct Tape. Mount Snow’s annual Spring event is growing every year. A weekend full of Reggae Music at the Resort’s Snow Barn Friday (the 28th) and Saturday (the 29th) in the evening, and continuing all weekend long on Cuzzins Deck. Accompanying the Reggae Festival will be the 6th Annual Sink or Skim Pond Skim competition on Saturday the 29th, and the first ever Duct Tape Derby on Sunday the 30th. The Sink or Skim Pond Skim is easily one of the most entertaining events each season as folks dressed in costume descend Standard in an attempt to cross our huge 100' man-made pond. The Duct Tape Derby will be one of the most entertaining events you'll ever see at Mount Snow. You’ll compete in a sledding event in which sleds built out of only duct tape, cardboard, zipties, and paint will be judged upon appearance, durability, and slideability in this fun event Mount Snow is still creating the rules for! April 4-6: Rock Maple Snocross Finals @ Carinthia. The Rock Maple Snowmobile Snocross makes its return to the Mount Snow Valley for the finals of the 2007/2008 RMR season.
